Chong KwanJangNim Richard Hackworth is the President of the Korea Hapkido Federation Haemukwan, Vice President of the US National Taekwondo Association, and is the World Martial Arts Congress Chairman of the US Delegation, Korean Martial Arts Instructors Association Senior Masters Caucus and Board Member & Chairman of North America for the Yang Shen Tai Chi Association. More recently he become the General Manager for the World Hapkido Union USA.
Richard Hackworth began his martial arts career as a child as a member of the Woodbridge Boxing and Wrestling Gym in Woodbridge, Virginia, under his first Coach, Father Sean McCullough. Throughout his childhood he participated monthly in Boxing Smokers and Wrestling Matches. He continued his studies and training in Boxing and Wrestling until he was introduced to the Asian martial arts at Lim’s Tang Soo Do and Hapkido.
After dedicating nearly forty years to training with the top experts in Japan, Korea, and China he made the transition from competitor and coach to leader and teacher. Having attended the advanced instructor and master training courses Hackworth was nominated to various appointments representing and leading in several of the world’s top Korean based martial arts organizations.
Today he works directly with the President of The World Hapkido Union in Korea, GM Oh Young Seok and General Manager, GM Lee Jae Hwan.
As an international leadership team spreading Hapkido around the world he works with GM Fabian Duque, The World Hapkido Union Director for South America and GM Sudesh Kumar who is the founder of the Countrywide Hapkido Federation India and The World Hapkido Union Director for India.
