Hapkido Teaches You Many Ways To Be Safe by KJN Jae Jeannotte

As a Hapkido Grandmaster and US Army Veteran, I can share with you how Hapkido teaches you to be safe even without fighting.

Hapkido is a Korean martial art that emphasizes self-defense through a variety of techniques, including joint locks, throws, strikes, and kicks. However, Hapkido is more than just a fighting style. It is a holistic discipline that cultivates physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Hapkido teaches you to be safe even without fighting by:

  1. Developing situational awareness. Hapkido training includes learning to assess your surroundings and identify potential threats. This can help you avoid dangerous situations altogether.
  2. Improving your confidence. Hapkido training can boost your self-esteem and make you feel more assertive. This can deter potential attackers, as they are more likely to target someone who appears vulnerable.
  3. Enhancing your physical fitness. Hapkido training can improve your strength, flexibility, and agility. This can make you better equipped to defend yourself if necessary.
  4. Cultivating mental discipline. Hapkido training can help you develop focus, concentration, and self-control. This can be beneficial in all aspects of your life, including your ability to stay calm and think clearly in stressful situations.
  5. Promoting a peaceful mindset. Hapkido emphasizes the importance of using your skills for self-defense only as a last resort. The ultimate goal is to resolve conflict peacefully, if possible.

In our school of JaeMuKwan Hapkido we teach that our art is a valuable tool for self-defense, but it is also a way of life that can help you become a safer, more confident, and more well-rounded individual.
